Expanding Digital Access Across Government
Since October 2023, the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project (SLDTP) has been delivering reliable internet bandwidth to 50 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This initiative is a key milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance communication, improve efficiency, and support digital service delivery across the public sector.
What the Activity Will Deliver
Connectivity is the backbone of digital transformation. By ensuring MDAs have stable, high-speed internet access, the government is enabling:
- Faster inter-agency communication for smoother collaboration.
- Improved public service delivery through digital tools and platforms.
- Greater efficiency and transparency in government operations.
What’s Next
Building on this foundation, the SLDTP will continue to expand digital infrastructure and services to ensure that Sierra Leone’s public sector is well-equipped to lead the country’s digital transformation. This includes the development of platforms like e-Cabinet and e-Parliament systems, which will all rely on robust connectivity to succeed.
A Foundation for E-Government
The bandwidth provision is more than just internet access. It is laying the groundwork for the rollout of critical e-government services such as secure government email, data exchange systems, and sector-specific digital platforms. These services will allow citizens and businesses to interact with government in faster, more transparent, and more accessible ways.
