Project

Central Network Monitoring and Management System at MoCTI

Overview

Reliable connectivity is the backbone of digital government. With support from the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project (SLDTP), the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) is standing up a central Network Monitoring and Management System (NMMS) to keep the e-Government Wide Area Network running smoothly and efficiently. The goal is simple: steadier connections, better uptime and more reliable digital services for the public.

What we’re doing

The NMMS will give MoCTI a single, real-time view of government connectivity. It will track availability, performance, capacity, and the overall health of the e-Gov network, including bandwidth usage by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). MoCTI’s own LAN and systems will also be monitored so issues can be spotted early and fixed faster.

How it will roll out

MoCTI is working with the network custodians to gather site information, design the system architecture, set up a central monitoring center at MoCTI, and onboard devices across the country. Field teams will configure edge equipment in Freetown and the provinces so everything reports into one dashboard.

Why it matters

As more services move online, agencies need fast, resilient connections they can trust. This NMMS helps MoCTI uphold service level commitments, optimize bandwidth where it’s needed most, and keep citizens connected to vital e-government platforms.
